valentino burned up the motegi circuit to win the race and his 8th world championship, adding to his growing list of records, the doctor showed the world and non believers that he was serious and meant business. from the start of the season the doctor had to answer the critics left and right, not that he bowed to anyone, but if you listened to the bench racing community, mr. rossi was now a has been and its time for stoners reign, so get used to it. maybe next year guys.tires were important and if you didnt bring the right rubbers you got denied as the podium was an all bridgestone party, rossi, stoner, and pedrosa, with jorge lorenzo the first michelin rider in fourth. the top ten is below, its old news now, but its good to remember this stuff.

just before the laguna seca round of motoGP, i asked a few people who rode sportbikes if, they might be attending, or perhaps viewing the race from the comfort of their homes. the no answers i got were generally pretty negative, with most being, "why would i watch a race on tv when i can be out riding my own bike"? now, that is a pretty good answer as it shows that one is pro-active, not willing to sit by and let life scream on by. also, most of these people that answered in this fashion were seemingly new to the sport, but when i hear this i wonder if they will ever get it, and if i retort with "but they are the best in the world though", i just get a dumb smile back, or sometimes a smartass will ask me to name five riders from the series as if nobody pays any attention to motoGP in the first place. i am sure when the NBA is on its scheduled day, most basketball courts, in most cities are empty, as fans of the sport realize who the masters of the game are and will be sitting back to enjoy a good game, played by the pros. except motorcycle racing(roadbikes to be clear) in america, speaking of course from a southern california perspective. it is interesting to see the numbers of sportbikes heading in the opposite direction of a national roadrace, but when motoGP is in town, the numbers of bikes heading in that direction is staggering. and when you see a bike at a stop, you are almost guaranteed to meet a fellow motoGP fan, male or female. but is it really the "any monkey can do it" theory at work, which is possibly a copout to the fact that the person is really not capable of understanding the sport? hard to say, and to be truthful, if you are new to it all, it can be overwhelming. when you meet one of these bikers, be gentle with them, explain things slowly so that they understand what you say, and dont be frightend by the deer in the headlights look you might get back, just speak louder...

little bikes in the land of godzilla!!!

its nuts this weekends race is where godzilla is from, kind of. ok godzilla came out of the water i think near tokyo, and the race is in motegi, but it sounds cool so thats how it works. motegi is in the mountains, just north of tokyo for you google map goons. and if you have ever heard a grid of motoGP bikes, it does sound a bit like the fearsome lizard king! rooaaaarrrrrrrrrrr!!!

rossi rules indy

valentino rossi won the rain soaked indy race, that was red flagged due to conditions brought on by mother nature. nicky hayden ran hard, but could not shake the doctor, and later had to battle with jorge lorenzo just before the crimson drape fell. haydens tires were clearly shagged from battling rossi when the rain stopped for a brief time, allowing a dry line to form and wrecking nickys tires in the process, and this allowing valentino to move off & collect those valuable first place points. here is how the top ten looked;

nicky hayden has left the honda building

nicky says his butt will not be on a honda next season, but has declined to say where he might land. sources close to the hillbilly kid say he has struck a deal with the crew from bologna. ducati has good sales here and might see this as good marketing.

channel 2 coverage(westcoast television, in southern california) was boosted by the replacement of former world champion kevin schwantz for former multi-time world champion mick doohan. even with that silly greg white rambling on, mick doohan seemed to keep it on track, good on ya, mate!
