texan ben spies needed to double at donington park and thats just what he did. the sterilgarda yamaha rider was looking to best his championship rival to gain valuable points in a bid to win the series title.

in race 1, spies and biaggi left the field behind with the very black aprilia having fuel pump issues on the last lap, the italian factory would have its best finish in the return to WSB.

race 2 was a much different story as haga would crash out, giving the texas terror an injection of points love. stiggy racing leon haslam finished second, and very happy with this being his home race, if only he had his dads sideburns...

michel fabrizio, the model like italian would take third, this not being his home race.

the dutch(alice) TT is the oldest race event on the motoGP calendar dating back to the age of stone wheels, what better place for the doctor to win his 100th career victory. with this win he closes in slowly on the all-time champion giacomo agostini. rossi would finish ahead of second placing lorenzo and a still ill casey stoner in third.

dani pedrosa would fall and not finish, in fact the factory honda team should have just stayed at home or moved on to laguna seca for early testing.

colin edwards, the highest placing american would get 4th, at the track that almost saw him get his first ever win a couple years back, but almost only counts in alligator wrestling and marriage.

nicky hayden, the other ducati rider would run his best race yet and finish 8th.

james toseland finished in 6th and flew on to the world superbike round at donington park to hunt for a new ride.

ben spies is no longer the superpole master, the streak is broken but not his racing ability. he would take race 1 ahead of shakey byrne and michel fabrizio in a race that started wet and ended dry. while the wet weather was a surprise as sun is always in the forecast, pizza sales were not down according to trackside vendors. once a dry line developed and spies had slicks on he was gone, elbows out of course.

race 2 was in the bag for the american ben spies, then his bike started to shit on him and he would drift backwards, allowing those with better running bikes to get ahead of him and score more points than the yamaha rider. johnny rea would score his first world superbike victory, keeping ahead of the ducati team battle that would see fabrizio get second and haga third.

valentino rossi overtook jorge lorenzo in the last corner in what had to be the closest and most exciting battle yet this year in motoGP. both yamahas seemed to be on rails, a testament to the hard work by the fiat/yamaha team.

a sick casey stoner would take 3rd and colin edwards would be the highest placing american in 7th.

nicky hayden would get 10th ahead of james toselands 13th, marco melandri held off sete gibernau to take the 14th spot.

yamaha team-mates jorge lorenzo and valentino rossi have made this race a personal battle for glory, honor and free tickets to disneyworld. seriously this should be a good race, especially if stoner gets a good start and one or both of the yamahas dont.

colin edwards has out qualified his box-mate james toseland, with the texas tornado sitting 6th on the grid to toselands 9th. in between these chuckle heads is the robot, dani pedrosa, starting 8th.

nicky hayden, the other factory ducati is slotted in the 13th starting postition, while returning motoGP star sete gibernau will take off from the 15th spot on the starting line.
